What is the Onti Erlina Chatbot?
The idea of Onti Erlina was born when Prof. Erlina Burhan participated in the global discussion, “Hackathon: Innovative Approaches to End TB Stigma,” organized by Stop TB Partnership Global on October 22–23, 2024, in Geneva, Switzerland.
This event aimed to find innovative solutions to address TB-related stigma—often rooted in a lack of proper education—which continues to hinder the goal of eliminating TB by 2030. To spark creative ideas, participants from various countries and diverse backgrounds were brought together, including health professionals, communication experts, actresses, students, TB survivors, and activists.
During the group discussion session, Prof. Erlina Burhan, along with Janika Hauserantara, Karolin Lüneburg, and Austin Obiefuna, exchanged ideas and reflected on a meaningful question:
"What if there were an educational platform that makes it easier and more comfortable for people to seek information about TB—with a warm, easy-to-understand, and accessible approach?"
That’s where the concept of an interactive chatbot took shape—a platform designed not only to deliver accurate information but also to foster more inclusive and supportive communication.
The idea received an overwhelmingly positive response during the pitching session. Initially, the chatbot was named “Aunty Erlina,” but to feel more culturally connected to Indonesian audiences, the name was refined to “Onti Erlina”—a friendlier, warmer, and more familiar-sounding name.
Today, Onti Erlina stands as a bridge to TB education in a more approachable way. Whether you're a patient, a health worker, or a member of the public, Onti Erlina makes it easier to access information without fear or stigma.
Now is the time for us to move forward together—raising awareness, improving understanding, and contributing to the collective effort to end TB.
